Prof Ange NZIHOU | Chair of the WasteEng 2016 Conference
 
Opening ceremony of the WasteEng2016 conference with a talk by Professor Ange Nzihou. The talk will describe advances and trends of the research on waste and biomass valorization. An overview about waste and biomass to carbon materials, biofuels, biogas, syngas and useful materials is expected. The global trends will be connected to the 10 years evolution of the research in the WasteEng conference.

Prof Stefanie Hellweg
ETH Zurich | Switzerland
 
Stefanie Hellweg is full professor for ecological systems design at the Institute of Environmental Engineering of ETH Zurich (Switzerland). After completing her Ph.D. on the environmental assessment of thermal waste treatment processes she worked as a post-doc and senior scientist at the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering at ETH Zurich. Between 2004 and 2005 she was a visiting scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Since 2006 she holds the Chair for Ecological Systems Design at ETH Zurich. In 2014 she was a visiting fellow at Yale University. She is a member of the Swiss National Research Council since 2011. Her main research interests are the environmental assessment of products and processes, e.g. food products, chemicals and waste treatment technologies.

Prof Sabu Thomas
Mahatma Gandhi University | India
 
Sabu Thomas is full professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at the School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, India since 1997. He is also the Hon. Director of International and Inter University Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Mahatma Gandhi University. He received his PhD from IIT, Kharagpur. He has published more than 650 papers and account more than 20985 citations. He has also published number of books in polymer engineering. The research group of Prof. Thomas received numerous awards and honors in polymer science and engineering. Prof Thomas has been ranked at the 5th position in the panel of the most productive researchers in India.

Prof Bruce E Dale
Michigan State University | USA
 
Professor Dale received his doctorate from Purdue University in 1979. He is currently University Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University. He serves as Editor in Chief and Founding Editor of Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining. Dale has won the Charles D. Scott Award (1996), the Sterling Hendricks Award (2007), the Award of Excellence of the Fuel Ethanol Workshop (2011) and was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (2011). Professor Dale is the highest-ranked academic in the Top 100 People in Bioenergy (Bioenergy Digest). He has published over 250 journal papers and has received 42 US and international patents. His research interests are cellulosic biofuels, the relationship between energy and societal wealth, life cycle assessment and the design of integrated agroecosystems for producing sustainable fuels, chemicals, food and animal feed.
